This week’s Advice Columnist is Justin Pinkit from Midlothian, Virginia. Justin suffers from ADD. He explained to me that he attended college at West Virginia University and majored in Psychology. He followed up by telling me of a great pizza place at WVU on 9th and University called “Bishnoli’s” and they have great Stromboli. He says that he used to eat there a lot in college. He went on further to say that he likes Italian food a lot. He continued on to tell me that he has never been to Italy or any part of Europe but would really like to go. Justin told me that he usually travels by car when going on vacation and drives a 2014 Ford Explorer that his father gave him when he graduated from college. He said that his dad is a really good guy. Eventually, I thanked Justin for being our Advice Columnist this week.
Adam K. – New City, New Jersey – I am so bored all of the time. Nothing is enjoyable. I no longer have a favorite television show. I don’t like any new music. I have no interest in going to the movies. I have lost interest in dating or meeting anyone. My job is pointless. I find no enjoyment in watching or playing sports. I have no idea how to get out of this funk. Can you help me?
Adam. First of all, it sounds like you are suffering from Depression. I don’t think it sounds like Manic Depression, though. I love that song by the way. “Manic Depression” by Jimi Hendrix. What an amazing guitarist. Truly ahead of his time. I guess you could say he was a “Time Bandit.” Horrible movie! “Time Bandits.” Could never sit through it. I tried twice. Just didn’t like it. I saw it once in the theater and then tried again so many years later at home on VHS. Does anyone even have VHS anymore? I remember that Laser Disc came out and it was awesome. Never took off though. Neither did Beta. I guess it all came back around to DVD though. Blu-ray, too. But now it’s all about streaming. There’s a really scary movie called “Smile” that I just streamed on Hulu. Scary movie, Man. I usually like comedies over horror, but it was really good. Well, happy birthday and good luck in school, Adam!
Terry L. – Norman, Oklahoma – My wife is definitely cheating on me. I went through her phone an found all kinds of texts from some guy. They were actually sexts. Lewd pictures of his privates. And she sent back pictures of her, too. I am trying to find a way to confront her about this. I have always been faithful. We’ve been together for 14 years. How do you think I should go about this in the most civil way? I love her and want to try to work through this, but I don’t even know where to start.
Terry. I think you are taking this very methodically. Good job. I like the fact that you are trying to avoid hysterical, possibly violent, confrontation. Violence is never the solution. Did you ever see “A Most Violent Year”? Oscar Isaac and Albert Brooks. Great movie. Albert Brooks is a genius. I like everything he was ever in. He made a movie called “Defending Your Life.” Rip Torn was in it, too. I remember when Rip Torn got arrested for breaking into some neighbor’s house and falling asleep, drunk, on their living room floor. Man, you should see my living room. It is a mess. I was watching my brother-in-law’s dog while he was vacationing is San Diego. The dog just pissed everywhere. But you’ve got to love San Diego. And Sea World is there. Those Orca whales! That is something. Do you know they say that they are as smart as humans? I think Bo Derik was in a movie called “Orca”. I’m pretty sure she was. She’s like 65 years-old and still smoking hot! Well good luck with your job search, Terry! I’m sure you’ll give a great interview.
Maggie R. – Wala Wala, Washington – I am a 26-year-old Grad student. But I think I am making a bad decision with where I want my life to go. I am studying Bio Physics, but it has become so difficult. And I do not even know if I see myself doing this for a living for the rest of my life. I have always wanted to act, and sing, and I just love Broadway and musicals. Is it too late for me? Have I missed the boat? I have spent an enormous amount of money on tuition and invested so much time to get to where I am at. I think that changing direction now could either be the dumbest or smartest decision I have ever made. Dumb because I have invested so heavily into it. Or smart because I am young and have time to change my trajectory. What do you think?
Maggie. Go with your heart. There is no right or wrong decision here. Great name by the way. Maggie. I love the song “Maggie May” by Rod Stewart. There was like a HUGE rumor about him in the 80’s that he had his stomach pumped because he swallowed too much sperm. Seriously. Google it. Isn’t Google awesome? You can find anything! I remember as a kid, if you wanted to find something, you had to look in the Encyclopedia Britannica. My parents actually bought me a set, so I didn’t have to use the one at the library. Does anyone even go to the library anymore. To be honest, I don’t know where my local library is. How sad is that? Jimmy Buffett has a great song called “Love in the Library.” But not a lot of people know it because it’s one of his later tunes. I love Jimmy Buffett. I would say he is in my Top 3. Jimmy Buffett, Elvis, and the Grateful Dead. No, not Elvis. The Darkness. They are lot more current. But not too current. Like early 2000’s current. They are really great. I am going to see them at the House of Blues in 10 days. House of Blues ROCKS! You do too, Maggie! Have fun on your vacation. Go Cubs! You’re right. I think this is definitely their year.
