Doughboy

Pillsbury is trying to keep up with other worldwide companies and trying not to offend people. Pillsbury is under fire from a group that claims to defend kids from getting bullied. Protect Our Big Kids is a nonprofit company with a clear mission, which is to stop heavy kids from getting bullied. They are currently taking aim at Pillsbury and more specifically the Doughboy. Protect Our Big Kids spokesperson, Camilla Bigford explained their newest campaign, “We feel that the Doughboy is making fun of fat kids, think about it, its not Doughman or Doughwoman it’s Doughboy and that little guys is so chubby they push his stomach to make him make a sound. Kids get bullied way too often and the expression Doughboy is used to make fun of these portly young people. We think it’s time Pillsbury got woke and started to rename their character something less hurtful to our little or not so little humans. Why can’t it be Pillsbury Kid or Pillsbury Boy and take the stigma out of the equation.”
We reached out to Pillsbury to get their side of the story and their response was sent in a letter that read, “Our Doughboy brings in way too much dough for us to throw away. We knead this character to continue to bake our plans of making so much dough for our shareholders. We are not a company that backs down, in fact we rise up when we feel the heat, hang in there we are on a roll. Forgive me if I sound high as I have been baking for the last 30-35 minutes. So, if you or anyone else doesn’t like our Doughboy then stay out of our kitchen. We are sick of you poking us in the belly of our company and we are ready to poke back. That is all we have to say, well that and hee, hee!”
