FB Adds DB (DeathBook)

Facebook has made life a lot easier when it comes to remembering people’s birthdays. There are even apps that can automatically send a happy birthday wish on that special day. However, there is some controversy when it comes to wishing people a happy birthday and marketing executive Valerie Walter explained, “Unfortunately, people are wishing everybody a happy birthday and it turns out some of these people have passed away. There are Facebook people who get very pissed off when you wish a dead person a happy birthday and will make a comment on the page asking how close of a friend are you as the person is dead. First off, even if they die their birthday is still their birthday, that doesn’t change and secondly, we at Facebook have come up with a remedy that will improve engagement. Our new idea is to add a Death Day wall to your page that will allow people to wish a friend or loved one a death day in addition to a happy birthday. The wall will not only include the date of the death but also allow for people to include the details of how they died along with pictures. If you beloved hubby died and you have a picture of him in the casket fully embalmed, post the picture. Did your friend die in a car crash and you have photos add it to the Death Day wall with a message about not drinking and driving and even a link to donate to MADD (mothers against drinking and driving). We have estimated that this new wall alone will add 45 minutes additional Facebook screen time to each user. I can’t wait to see how this will impact our bottom line. So, keep wishing everyone a happy birthday, dead or alive but just don’t forget to say happy death day to those who are gone and for everyone’s sake post some good death pics.”
