It’s All About Them

He, she, they, them, pronouns are a thing now and MediaPubLive has done the research to find out why so many people are pissed off about it. People were used to hearing “he” and “she” and are very frustrated to have to enter the realm of “they/them” for a singular person. We reached out to a friend of parent of a they, Betty Hellman for comment and she said, “I get so confused with this “they” thing. For example, when I ask my friend Jessica, who has a “they” and two boys, if Leslie (a they) is home and Jessica tells me “they” went to the mall. Now I don’t know if she means Leslie or if she means all her kids, it’s so freaking confusing. Add in the fact that I love to correct people’s grammar so when I hear Jessica say that “they is in the bathroom” I want to correct her so bad, but I am not sure if that is even incorrect anymore.”

There is another group of anti-“they/thems” who unbeknownst to them(not a they/them) have a deeper hatred of “they/them” (sorry that was very confusing for me too). The anti’s dislike the group because the anti’s feel the “they/them” are know it alls. “Turns out we have heard that “they/them” know everything.” Stated world renowned psychologist Karl Livingston. “How many times have you heard someone say “well that’s what they say” or “you know, they say….”. People have grown up to resent these so called know it alls. We for so long had no idea who they were, but now we know, it’s them.”
