Media Pub Live proudly announces that they are the lead sponsor for ITT Technical Institute’s Misinfo Day happening in Frye Cay, Grand Exuma, Bahamas, on April 1, 2023. The event will take place on the grounds of the world infamous Frye Festival that catalyzed new development on the beautiful Bahamian island.
Modeled after the University of Washington’s recent event (link), ITT hopes to teach its recent graduates and past alumni to discern fact from fiction and to know when to share or beware. ITT Dean of Students, Russell Ziskey, added, “In this day and age of social media, students must be able to critically think about where their facts come from. In my generation, we trusted the newspaper, AM radio, Encyclopedia Britannica and fortune cookies. Today misinformation sources filling social media include nation state hackers posing as LinkedIn recruiters, TikTok zombie influencers, talking cats’ apps and Uber drivers.”
ITT Alumni can gain up to 2.5 Continuing Education Units (CEU’s) by attending the online event or a MSFIT (Master’s Degree in Functional Misinformation Technology) by attending in person. In person tickets are on sale now for $3,999 including conference admission, mosquito net hammock accommodations, cheese sandwiches and outrigger canoe transportation leaving from the Port Manatee on Tuesday, March 28.
