National Human Resources Convention Fails

Share

Last week, in Las Vegas Nevada was the largest HR convention of the year.  Several hundred thousand HR professionals typically attend this event every year. This year was a much different story. At 8am, the doors opened for the event, and nobody was there. The event manager and staff were in a frenzy and in a tremendous state of panic. As each hour passed the first day not one attendee walked through the doors.

The second day was no different than the first day, as nobody walked through the doors once again. The board of advisors to the event decided to close it down after the second day. John Dalesworth the show manager and manager of several convention centers had this to say, “I am a pretty fat guy and hate waiting in line….with nobody at the show, I never waited in line was able to eat a ton….ohh, as far as nobody going…honestly, I was stuffing my fat ass those few days…..hopefully we get to the bottom of this.”

After a further investigation, it was discovered as to why there was no attendance. There was a strip poker event going on along with the AVN (Adult Video News awards) awards convention. This was all taking place across a street at the Bellagio Hotel. Literally the entire group of HR professionals spent several days there and never made it to the National Human Resources Convention. We caught up with HR executive John Hristis and he had this to say, “Well, when we got to Vegas and lets just say we knew we had choices……let’s be realistic….who wants to listen to boring crap at a convention when we knew could head over to the Bellagio…..and I am not talking about gambling….haha….well, we learned a ton regardless….great week….plan on heading back next week again and every week after…..Vegas Baby!”

Two week later, every HR professional at the event was fired. Interesting enough, John Hristis was hired immediately to manage and speak at the AVN awards next year. He is being given the main stage to speak about the importance of being professional in the workplace.
