The 88th Waste Management Phoenix Open PGA Tour

February 9th marks the first day of the WM Phoenix Open. The fifth-oldest tournament on the PGA Tour. This will celebrate its 88th playing and 36th time at TPC Scottsdale’s Stadium course.

The tournament is notorious for its spectators’ epic alcohol consumption. The event’s costly corporate boxes, which are sold with “open” bars, set a 10-drink limit per person a few years back. Even with that in place, bartenders are happy to ignore the limit when tipped generously.

As in past events, the crowd is expected to be drunk and ruthless. Find the green and the stadium celebrates with rapturous fervor; miss it, and the 20,000-strong crowd will kill you with catcalls and jeers.

Players have stated, “You can embrace it and play along with it. But if you try to fight it, they’ll crucify you.”

Naturally, the event draws Hollywood and Professional Sports celebrities alike. And past lists have boasted everyone from Aaron Rodgers to Bill Murray to Big Bird (seriously).

There is an interesting sponsor this year at the event. The Mangianetti Waste Management Control Company out of Cicero, Illinois. A south suburb of Chicago. Dino “the Chin” Mangianetti is the CEO but likes to be referred to as “the Boss.” We got to talk to “the Boss” to see why his company took an interest as a sponsor at this year’s event.

“Waste Management has always been affiliated with certain ‘illegal’ practices when it comes to particular ‘families’ where I come from. And we are here to set the record straight. When asked what I do for a living, I always say, ‘I am in Waste Management.’ A totally legit business. Now, if someone wants to assume something else, that’s on them. What are you gonna do? Some people just think what they wanna think. And those that don’t know, don’t know that they don’t know. The cost of doing business is very costly. So, we are here to set the record straight. We are a totally legit business. We will be setting up a totally legit betting book on the 3rd green where you can bet on who you think is gonna win. And we are being very generous, offering only a 55% VIG (the cut or amount charged for taking a bet, also known as juice in slang terms – normally 10%). Winnings will be paid by the financial firm of Sonny “Knuckles” Compucello. Arrangements will be made individually. And that’s that. We will also be providing after-Event entertainment at the Seven Seas All Nude Club and Fine Dining establishment. Direct To Your Room arrangements can also be made. Prices may vary. And if anybody has a problem with this, take it up with my colleague, Leonardo “the Mutt” Pagnolo. He can be reached… well, come see me and we’ll discuss. Now, I’m done. Get outta my face.”

In addition to this new sponsor, Snoop Dogg will also be sponsoring the 8th hole providing pole dancers, “blunts,” and a side stage performing iconic hits like “Gin and Juice” and “Drop It Like It’s Hot.”

Get your tickets now! Fun for the whole family!
