To Protest Capitalism, Generation Z Leaving Corporate World in Droves to Become Brand Ambassadors

Share

In recent years Pop icons like AOC and Bernie (not Madoff) have sold t-shirts and branded slogans for common products at premium prices to fund their campaigns and protests against capitalism. And young people have taken notice. The most recent trend has been the proliferation of Generation Zers who have abandoned corporate and blue collar jobs for the wide world of influencing. Thousands have walked away from financial security, and in some cases their homes, so that they can tell other people how to live their lives on the internet. Who better than a homeless person living out of a van at a State Park with their dog to tell you what products to buy for your next adventure; or even the kid living in his parents basement with no plans of moving out, they’re young, they know what’s best for us. The official position of Generation Z on the issue is that they are protesting corporate capitalism and intend to bring about socialism in the US. Field reporter Gayle Sayers ventured into a state park recently to interview an actual influencer in the wild, where she encountered a young woman named Scout (who asked not to be fully identified), living with her dog Barbara in a Sprinter van. Scout had recently left a job as a software designer for Amazon, and began documenting her life with her dog. Asked why she would walk away from a six figure salary and a home, Scout mentioned that she was making nearly as much as a Brand Ambassador on her social media, with her biggest advertiser ironically being Amazon itself. Gayle asked Scout if she still considered Amazon her employer, since the checks came from the same place, and Scout was quick to rebut that notion and inform Gayle that capitalism was like slavery, and she just couldn’t do it anymore. She believes socialism is the answer, so that everyone can get equal shares of life. However, she then mentioned that because influencers were doing such important work, they might get a slightly bigger share, but everyone else would be equal. She said athletes and models might get a slightly bigger share as well. You know, the important people who need it. Gayle asked Scout if she had ever read Animal Farm, to which the Gen Z’er replied, “Ew. Farms are gross. We need to stop farming to save the planet”. When pressed on where vegetables and food would come from without farms, Scout replied, “the grocery store, duh”. At that point, Scout began to sing wildly along with a Taylor Swift song on the radio, allowing Gayle to escape the interview essentially unscathed. In an aside conversation prior to the interview, Scout revealed to Gayle that she maintains a very successful OnlyFans account to fund her adventures.
