Americans eat, on average two pounds of flies, maggots and all kinds of other bugs each year. This information comes from a Scientific American blog from 2017.

Well, the tables have turned. A fly humming around the Botanic Gardens on the Northshore of Chicago ate a person. The good news, Martha Brown is ok and has been living inside a fly for 2 months. We spoke with Dr. Harry Shaker, a world renowned Entomologist  and he had this to say, “This happens more often than you think…I lived in a ladybug for 6 months…..it is not a big deal….Martha will be fine….plus…after speaking with her…what a bitch…hope she dies…….hey, thanks for the air time!”
