UAB Hosts 2026 Alabama State Spelling Bee on March 21

Birmingham has become the central location of the Alabama State Spelling bee coming up at the end of March. We spoke with the administrator of the spelling bee and here is what she had to say, “Birmingham is a beautiful city filled with warmth……the people of Birmingham have by far the thickest accent and often, very hard to understand at times…..the result, we can never understand much here……and probably won’t truly know if words are being spelled correctly……however, kids in Birmingham can now have a far better chance to compete since we really can’t understand what the heck they are saying or spelling.”
