NIL Gambling

College sports is trying to find new ways to deal with the NIL era. In an effort to stop players from getting in trouble for betting on games, they are trying something new. They have decided to allow college players to bet on games, even their own ones. Tom Penterhouse director of NCAA NIL explained, “we realize with so much money bet on ncaa games and now that college players have more money than they know what to do with, there are many ways players can get into trouble with gambling. So we decided to make it completely legal for players to gamble on any and all games including their own. Think about it, if all players can tank a game, it evens the playing and betting field. We saw this take effect in China. Both teams had players trying to throw the basketball game. It was the first time I ever saw a player have a double double which included 10 turnovers and 10 blocked shots all of which were when his own teammate was shooting the ball.” Time will tell if this works out, but I bet it will be fun to watch.
