BREAKING: Ted Cruz Crowned “Mr. South Texas,” Local Festival Accidentally Invents Most Embarrassing Title in American Politics

LAREDO, Texas – In a ceremony that historians are already describing as “deeply unnecessary,” U.S. Senator Ted Cruz was officially named “Mr. South Texas 2026” by the Washington’s Birthday Celebration Association. An organization apparently dedicated to proving that awards can always get a little sillier.

The honor was presented at the Laredo Country Club, where Cruz addressed a packed room of polite clapping and quiet confusion.

“I am deeply humbled,” Cruz said, standing beneath a banner that read Mr. South Texas, a title that sounds less like a political achievement and more like a regional male pageant held next to a Chili’s.

Laredo Mayor Victor Treviño praised Cruz as a “strong advocate for Texas infrastructure,” before also presenting him with the Key to the City and the title Honorary Ambassador of the Republic of the Rio Grande.

Not to be outdone, Webb County Judge Tano Tijerina awarded Cruz a commemorative belt buckle with his name on it, completing what experts are calling “the most Texas trophy trilogy ever assembled.”

Cruz used the moment to remind the audience he won reelection by a million votes and had been focused on “jobs, jobs, jobs.” A phrase he delivered with the enthusiasm of a man who had just discovered the word “jobs.”

Cruz called the honor “the honor of a lifetime.”

Which means somewhere in Texas tonight, Ted Cruz is standing in front of a mirror wearing a giant belt buckle, whispering the words “Mr. South Texas” to himself like he just won a Beauty Pageant at a truck stop.
